Plan a Field Trip

Transport your students to the top of the Peruvian Andes to the ancient site of Machu Picchu. The exhibition helps solve the mysteries of who lived there, what the site was used for, and why it was suddenly abandoned. You’ll walk through a real Inca residence, stroll down a replicated road from Machu Picchu, and take a three-dimensional tour of the site itself. Pre-registration is required for students to visit this special exhibition. Indicate your interest on your Field Trip Registration form. Requests are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Honoring the Dead (Grades 3—8)
Investigate different cultures through their mummification rituals, from ancient Egyptian royalty to the Inca civilizations of the Andes.

Capac Raymi (Grades K—6)
Transport yourself to Machu Picchu and experience the wonder of the ancient summer solstice celebration! Music, dancing, and brilliantly colored regalia are all part of this magical performance by Queechua dancers from Ecuador.

Exploring Machu Picchu: Unveiling the Mystery of the Incas
Dive into the wonders of Peru! Travel back to the 15h century to see one of the worlds most spectacular archaeological sites, then create fun focused field trip activities using a variety of museum resources.
