Mapping Worlds

How do you define "world?" Is it limited to the planet Earth? Or does it include spiritual realms? Across time and cultures maps encompass worldviews from the scientific to the mythical.

Object Highlights:

A 15th century world map by Ptolemy that spurred the development of modern, mathematically based cartography
A Hindu cosmological globe from the 19th century
A pair of 17th century celestial and terrestrial globes by the Italian engraver Vicenzo Maria Coronelli
