J. W. Croft, PhD
Jim Croft joined The Field Museum (Chicago, Illinois) in May 1984, and currently serves as Executive Vice President. His primary areas of responsibility include Institutional Advancement, Finance, and Facilities Planning and Operations.
He gives oversight to the annual fundraising program, corporate and foundation giving, and the Museum’s Capital Campaign. He is also responsible for accounting, budgeting, grants administration, investments, debt compliance, in addition to facilities management, which includes institutional construction projects.
Prior to joining the Museum, he held several positions in social service administration including executive director, controller, financial officer, and chief business officer.
He received a PhD from the University of Nebraska, where his doctoral work focused on management and leadership of not-for-profit organizations. He also holds an undergraduate degree in business, and a graduate degree in management.
Dr. Croft serves on the Boards of First Nonprofit Insurance Company, National-Louis University, The Salvation Army, The Natural Science Collections Alliance, and The Chicago Sunday Evening Club. He has also taught finance, accounting and management courses at several Chicago area universities.
