Expect Awe-Struck Travelers
UNITED TERMINAL TO BECOME NEW HOME FOR FIELD MUSEUMS GIANT BRACHIOSAURUS
CHICAGO Beginning January 19, travelers passing through United Airlines Terminal One at OHare International Airport will be greeted by a colossal sight a four-story tall model of a Brachiosaurus, the largest mounted dinosaur in the world. The dinosaur, currently a major attraction at Chicagos Field Museum, will be a permanent display in the B Concourse of Uniteds Terminal One. The Field Museum is pleased to partner with United Airlines to introduce the Brachiosaurus to the millions of visitors who pass through OHare every year.
Presented to the airport by The Field Museum and United, the towering skeleton will help identify Chicago as a world-class destination for dinosaur enthusiasts. The Field Museum is renowned for its exhibitions and research concerning dinosaurs and other prehistoric life. The Brachiosaurus (pronounced Brock-ee-o-saur-us) a plant-eating dinosaur that lived 150 million years ago Is modeled from bones excavated in 1900 by Field Museum paleontologist Elmer Riggs. By moving the Brachiosaurus, The Field Museum will make room for Sue, the largest and most complete Tyrannosaurus rex fossil ever found. Sue will be unveiled in the Museums Stanley Field Hall on May 17.
A special satellite Field Museum Store at OHare will complement the display of the Brachiosaurus. Airport visitors may purchase merchandise pertaining to dinosaurs and other Field Museum exhibitions. For more information, the public may contact the Museum at 312-922-9410.
