These are the creatures that ruled China for 165 million years—far longer than any human dynasty.  The exhibition illustrates how a changing Earth led to the amazing diversity of dinosaurs as they evolved over time.  Among the many authentic fossils and life-size casts on view are Mamenchisaurus, the longest-necked animal that ever lived; Dilophosaurus, one of the first Jurassic killer giants; and Caudipteryx, a feathered dinosaur that is important to understanding how birds evolved from meat-eating dinosaurs.  Visitors will see how dinosaur life begins—from two very different nests of fossil eggs—and how it may have ended for at least one plate-backed Toujiangosaurus, under fierce attack by the crested meat-eater Monolophosaurus.  There will be plenty of hands-on activities, too—including a chance to touch a real dinosaur fossil.
