Overview:
Though her time in the White House was brief, Jacqueline Kennedy, like her husband, had a deep and lasting impact on the nation. She broadened our awareness of art, culture, and historic preservation. Her influence on style and fashion reached to the far corners of the globe. She carefully built a public image for herself, and in doing so, she changed how the world saw America—and how we saw ourselves.

Jacqueline Kennedy: The White House Years explores and celebrates these influences through 70 garments from her wardrobe, along with photographs, video excerpts, handwritten notes, and other documents and items that provide context and commentary. The exhibition features key pieces such as the A-line coat and pillbox hat from the inauguration ceremony, elegant evening gowns the first lady wore to White House dinners, and thoughtfully designed fashions in which she dazzled foreign leaders and captivated the public during her trips abroad.

The exhibition evokes the youthful vigor and sophistication of the Kennedy years, allowing visitors to spend a few moments in an era that still resonates in our collective memory.
