A Royal Welcome for Tut

CHICAGO—In celebration of the opening of Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs at The Field Museum in May 26, 2006, the Museum's Women's Board is hosting a gala fit for a king.

The Field Museum's Women's Board will host their annual ball on Saturday, May 20, 2006 from 6:30 p.m. to midnight at the Museum. The Egyptian-themed event will offer guests a special sneak peek at the glittering exhibition before it opens to the public on May 26.

In addition to an exhibition preview, the evening will include cocktails, dinner and dancing to the David Humphreys Orchestra. Proceeds will benefit The Field Museum.

Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs contains nearly 120 priceless items from Tut's tomb and other ancient sites, including stunning jewels, statuaries and ceramics. The exhibition concludes with new images from a CT scan taken of Tut's body, along with digital pictures that reveal the inside of Tut's famous tomb. The exhibition will continue through January 1, 2007.

The event is co-chaired by Women's Board members Fran Beatty and Debbie Novich. Beatty says, "The interest and excitement surrounding the Tut exhibition will make the Women's Board Ball the place to be on May 20." Novich says, "It's a wonderful exhibition. I'm so glad we will have it here at The Field Museum."

The Women's Board of The Field Museum was founded in 1966. It has held an annual dinner since 1968. The Women's Board is comprised of more than 250 civic leaders who support The Field Museum through fundraising and increasing public awareness of the Museum's mission and programs. For more information about the gala, please call The Field Museum Women's Board at (312) 665-7135.
