| Description: |
During the Late Cretaceous Period, a gigantic Tyrannosaurus rex lived and died. For 67 million years it lay buried within the Black Hills of South Dakotauntil its discovery in 1990.
Ten years later, on May 17, 2000, The Field Museum proudly unveils the restored and mounted skeleton of this magnificent creature: Sue, the largest, most complete, and best preserved T. rex ever found.
Sues fossilized skeleton and skull are joined by a variety of interactive exhibits exploring her discovery and preparation, as well as the questions about how T. rex lived and died that this extraordinary specimen is helping scientists answer. |
