Chicago Coalition for the Homeless
Field Museum/Center for Cultural Understanding and Change



Brand New Beginnings, created by the Chicago Coalition for the Homeless' Women's Empowerment Project to provide low-income housing for women and children, is located in the Washington Park neighborhood. The Field Museum's Center for Cultural Understanding and Change partnered with the Coalition to chronicle the Project's work to organize women in homeless shelters, obtain funding, and design a new residential facility by helping women find their own voice and build support among each other.
