This bibliography, extracted from a database mainly created and maintained by coPI Al Newton, contains all references cited in the catalog databases on this website, and the entries in the databases are linked to the appropriate reference here by the RefNo unique to each reference record. The database thus contains original description citations for all family-group and genus-group names in Staphyliniformia, and austral species-group names in Staphylinidae and other included families of Staphylinoidea, plus some subsequent nomenclatural or systematic works relevant to these names or the classification being used. With a few exceptions that are noted individually, all references were examined by Newton or other PEET team members and are on hand at Field Museum. Although the online species database does not yet include all families of Staphyliniformia, most of the relevant references have been added.
