(Sanborn, 1952). Fieldiana Zool., 33:134.

ORDER—RODENTIA
FAMILY—Muridae

COMMON NAME—Mindanao lowland forest mouse.

DISTRIBUTION—
Endemic to the Mindanao Faunal Region: Biliran (USNM), Bohol (USNM), Leyte (USNM), and Mindanao (Lanao del Sur [DMNH], and Maguindanao [FMNH] provinces).

HABITAT—The holotype was taken on the coastal plain of northern Cotabato (now Maguindanao) Province. An additional specimen taken at about 1400 m in Lanao del Sur was tentatively referred to this species (Musser, 1982c). Specimens tentatively referred to this species were common on Leyte in primary montane and mossy forest and on Biliran in montane forest and were rare in lowland forest on Leyte and Bohol (Heaney et al., 1989; Rickart et al., 1993; Heaney et al., unpubl. data). Specimens initially referred to this species from Negros (Musser, 1982c) are an undescribed species (Musser and Heaney, 1992) listed here as Apomys sp. A.

STATUS—
Uncertain, because of taxonomic uncertainty.
