Only one species of true cat occurs in the Philippines; other species sometimes called cats are actually members of the family Viverridae. The one species is widespread in Southeast Asia, and has a limited distribution in the Philippines. Feral domestic cats occasionally live in forested areas on Luzon and perhaps elsewhere.
