Myotis rufopictus

ORDER—CHIROPTERA
FAMILY—Vespertilionidae

COMMON NAME—Orange-fingered myotis.

DISTRIBUTION—Philippines only; recorded on Luzon (Bulacan [USNM], Camarines Sur [USNM], Isabela [UMMZ], Nueva Viscaya [UPLB], and Rizal [FMNH] provinces), Negros (UMMZ), Palawan (UMMZ), Sibuyan (FMNH).

HABITAT— Recorded in primary lowland and montane forest from 50 m to 1125 m, and in an agricultural area near sea level (Mudar and Allen, 1986; Heaney et al., in press, unpubl. data).

STATUS—
Unknown, probably uncommon.

COMMENT
Considered to be a subspecies of M. formosus by Corbet and Hill (1992) and Koopman (1993), but we disagree on the basis of cranial and external morphology.
