Little explorers have their own place in a big museum
Young children are natural scientists, constantly observing and testing the world around them. The Crown Family PlayLab is a wonderful new place to encourage your child’s explorations and creative play while they grow at The Field Museum.
The Crown Family PlayLab starts with a child’s innate curiosity and a family-friendly environment, adds real artifacts and specimens, and encourages young explorers to discover the wonders of nature, and learn about the world’s diverse cultures. Look for these unique areas:
Illinois Woodland
Explore a three-dimensional diorama where the scene changes from night to day, and children dress up as animals and star in their own nature play.
Pueblo
Step into a life-sized Native American environment where children can discover what families in other cultures call home and how they lived.
Rhythm Section
Let your little musician play instruments and dance to rhythms from different cultures.
Scientists’ Lab
Junior scientists can discover, measure, sort, and magnify a variety of specimens and artifacts.
Dino Field Station
Children can make fossil rubbings, play in a dinosaur nest, or dig dinosaur bones out of a field jacket just like real Field Museum scientists.
Art Studio
Little artists can create projects inspired by nature and culture to display at The Field Museum or take home.
