How Did That Stegosaurus Get in Your House?
Some paleontologists think that Stegosaurus plates might have been used for protection, some think they may have been used as sun absorbing "heaters", and others think they may have been a way to make friends with other Stegosauruses. If you were a Stegosaurus, what would you use your plates for?

Ask an adult to help you with this project before you get started. You will need:
4 paper plates
Art supplies for decorating
Stapler
Yarn
Pencil

Take 4 paper plates and fold them in half. Decorate them with your favorite colors. Lay three paper plates side by side, lengthwise overlapping about one inch. The folded edges should make a straight line. Ask an adult to staple them together to make the Stegosaurus plates that will hang down your back. Take the last paper plate and staple it on each end so it can be worn as a hat with the points in the front and back of your head. Attach the three paper plates to the back of the paper plate hat. Make two small holes on either side of the hat and insert a piece of yarn into each hole. Tie the yarn under your chin to keep the hat and paper plates on your head and along your back. Poof! You're a Stegosaurus.
