Art Activities
Falling, Falling, Autumn Leaves are Falling!
Sometimes botanists (scientists who study plants) save the specimens they find in nature by making rubbings of them. Just like the botanists, you can make your own specimen rubbings too.
| Ask an adult to help you with this project before you get started. You will need: |
 |
1 thin piece of paper |
 |
Crayons |
 |
Leaves |
Take a thin piece of paper and gently lay it on top of a found leaf. Peel the paper off your favorite colored crayon and rub the side of it on the surface of the paper. What happens next? What details do you see? How many leaves can you fit on your paper? Can you find leaves that match other colored crayons? What else can you use to make a rubbing?
