Who's Behind That Mask?
Many cultures throughout the world make and use masks. Sometimes masks can be used to help us to pretend to become someone or something else. Masks can be used to tell stories, celebrate, or share family or group histories. What kind of mask can you make?
| Ask an adult to help you with this project before you get started. You will need: |
A paper plate |
Crayons, markers, paint, yarn, feathers, or any other materials you like |
Glue or tape |
Scissors |
Popsicle stick |
Take a paper plate and have an adult help you cut two holes for your eyes, so you can see through the mask. Decorate it with anything you want. Glue the popsicle stick on the bottom of the plate in the chin area. Make sure the stick is on the back side of the plate, so that you have a handle to hold the mask up with. Hold your mask in front of your face. What will you use your mask for?
