Plan a Group Visit
With tour groups in mind, The Field Museum has created a variety of ways for your group to enjoy Pompeii: Stories from an Eruption. We have created themed lunches, add-on services, and itineraries to enhance your Italian experience.  Groups of 15 or more qualify for discounts when they book their visit in advance. Seniors 65 or over receive further discounts.

Suggested Group Itineraries may include:

Curator’s Commentary
A personalized, docent-led presentation on Pompeii: Stories from an Eruption gives your group a behind-the-scenes perspective of Pompeii’s exhibition curators.  The docent concludes the presentation by leading your group to the exhibition viewing.  Docents will be available inside the exhibition for additional comments and questions.

Private Viewing
After the Museum closes, enjoy a private reception and exhibition viewing before heading to the theater or other evening events.  The exhibition is open exclusively for your group as you enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres in a private Museum setting.

Italian Immersion
In collaboration with our partners in the tourism industry, we are pleased to suggest an “Italian Immersion” itinerary.  Groups selecting this exciting itinerary will sample the fascinating Italian history of Chicago featuring hidden treasures and unique experiences similar to the ones you’ll experience as you enjoy Pompeii: Stories from an Eruption.

Combine your visit to the Pompeii exhibition with a tour of Chicago’s vibrant Little Italy, where your group will enjoy a traditional Italian meal at one of the neighborhood’s authentic family-owned trattorias followed by dessert at one of the city’s oldest family bakeries. Allow time to explore the district’s central Taylor Street and Our Lady of Pompeii, a Roman Catholic Shrine.  Conclude your tour with a visit to the Italian American Sports Hall of Fame, a tasting of Italian wine at The Marshall Field’s Culinary Studio, and a “make your own pizza” outing at Connie’s Pizza on Archer.  Be sure to let us know about your group’s special needs and interests so that we may customize a memorable package for you today.

Pompeii and Pesto
Our special themed lunches feature contemporary variations on Italian classics created by Blue Plate Catering, one of Chicago’s leading furnishers of customized delicacies. Click here to view available menus.

Pompeii and Pizza
Short on time before or after viewing the Pompeii exhibition?  Consider a quick side trip to Connie’s on Archer.  Just minutes from The Field Museum, Connie’s features delicious Italian dishes and one-of-a-kind Chicago pizza served with Connie’s famous hospitality.
