Popular participation in conservation efforts

The Pedro Villalobos Museum is a museum that is a "tool for conservation"

Salvaged specimens are used, rather than animals killed through collections programs
Museum programs address local problems (such as conservation conflicts)
Natural history stories link people with biological and ecological processes (such as the region's history as leading producer of rubber and brazil nuts)
Collections emphasize and support Pandinos' sense of pride in biodiversity that is unique for this region of Bolivia

Integrating local and scientific knowledge- for research and environmental education- to create a sense of "conservation community."
