Keshi DollsMiniature Dolls (Keshi Ningyo)

Keshi, a word meaning poppy and connotative of miniature, is used to describe many different types of dolls made on a smaller scale than what is considered standard, including kimekomi, gosho, and hina dolls. However, just the word keshi itself can also indicate a type of very tiny dolls, arranged to depict scenes with several little dolls arranged on a stand of padded silk on a wood base. These keshi dolls are usually about one centimeter in height each. The dolls are made of plaster and are molded onto tiny pins of iron, also called keshi.
