This large bronze is one of the finest ancient Egyptian representations of a cat in existence. A scarab is set on its forehead; a sacred eye appears on its chest. The statue was acquired by Edward Ayer in 1895 and given to The Field Museum by Watson F. Blair. Egypt, Late Period (ca. 600 B.C.).
