An exceptionally fine example of historic Korean costume, this jacket was made for the wedding of a royal princess. The sleeve ends are painted; the remainder is of silk brocade. Very few such costumes survive in Korea itself due to destruction during the long Japanese occupation and the Korean War of 1950-53. The Museum has three, all brought to Chicago for the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition.
