1. Saya: Sheath, usually lacquered
2. Kojiri: End Cap
3. Ashi: The base pieces for a Tachi style mount

6. Fuchi: Metal spacer between sword guard and handle

1. Nakago-ana: Hole in the tsuba allowing it to be fit on the sword
2. Kogai-hitsu, Kozuka-hitsu, or Wari-bashi-hitsu: Opening in the tsuba for either kogai (skewer), kozuka (utility knife), or wari-bashi (split chopsticks)
3. Seki-gane: Spacers to make the tsuba fit better on the sword
4. Mei: The signature of the artist
