The relationship between humans and their environment is the core of the anthropology department's research. Over the past several years, the Museum has consciously sought to develop this research focus as a strategic decision to build an intellectually strong and coherent department. The anthropology department has maintained a strong connection between curatorial appointments and collections strengths. Presently, curators have research projects in East Africa, Mesoamerica, the Caribbean, China, Paupa New Guinea, urban United States and the Andes. Research Associates extend this research scope even further.
