Changbai Mountain International Biosphere Reserve is situated in Jilin Province, northeastern China. The vegetation in Changbai Mountain consists of typical boreal and temperate components with sino-Japanese elements. These elements occur in a series of uniquely well-defined zones. Two sampling plots have been established, one located in mixed forest dominated byPinus and deciduous trees, and the other inPicea and
Abies dominated mature forest. The Chinese Academy of Sciences has established a ecological research station that can host scientists conducting research in this area. (http://www.cashq.ac.cn/~mab/cbrn3102.html).
