Modified 50% majority rule tree based on the morphological characters discussed in Phylogenic Considerations (see Introduction ) showing a tentative hypothesis of evolutionary relationships within the North American taxa. Modifications include rooting with L. proxima and moving L. oblongospora into Metasection Amethystina. These changes are based on preliminary analysis of rDNA sequence data (unpublished results) and the tree will be updated as these analyses proceed.
