Type: China, Guangdong (Kwang Tung) Prov., Guangzhou (Kanton), in dead culms of Bambusa vulgaris, 12.v.1919, leg. Otto A. Reinking 4732 (PAD, holotype; BPI, isotype).
According to Aptroot (1995a: 373), the ascus tips are consistently IKI+ blue in R. serrulata. This indicates that the species probably is a member of Amphisphaeria rather than Roussoëlla.

Syn.: *Anthostomella tomicoides Sacc. fide Francis 1975: 52.
Type: Italy, "in foliis putrescentibus Sacchari strict nostratis, nec non Bambusae cultae a Susegana, Aut. 1877".
According to Francis (1975: 54) the original material of A. italica on Saccharum and Bambusa is not at PAD, but she had seen another of Spegazzini's collections of A. italica (on Arundo) which is A. tomicoides and also other material that indicated that they are the same species. These species have been said to differ in size of ascomata and spores, but Francis found that this is the case if only the types are studied. The differences were not seen when specimens on herbaceous stems were examined.
