Barr (1979: 23) accepted this species. She stated that "the shape and position of septa, as well as the ascocarp, are typical of a species of Caryospora". She did not discuss Teng's opinion on this species. Teng (1934b: 373-375) examined Chinese collections of Caryospora on decorticated wood, bamboo and peach endocarps and found that there is no reliable distinction between the fungi on different substrata. Therefore, he treated C. langloisii as a synonym of C. putaminum (Schw.: Fr.) De Not.

Syntypes: Philippines, Luzon, Laguna Prov., Los Baños, in leaves of Bambusa sp., iii.1906, leg. Merrill 5122; Bataan Prov., Lamao, i.1904, leg. Copeland 282.
The rounded to elongated "stromata" are galls, according to Theissen & Sydow (1915: 418). They considered it "eine Sphaeriale". A collection of "Scirrhia luzonensis Henn." from Luzon, collected by Merrill in 1913, is preserved in S. No teleomorph was found. There is another collection, Merrill n. 5122, that is a part of the original syntype, but it has the name "Lophiosphaera ? Bambusae" in the label. This is most probably a provisional, unpublished name for Apiospora luzonensis. The spores have one median septum, and measures agree with the protologue "20-30 x 3-3.5" Êm. This is no Apiospora. The material is very sparse and requires a careful study.
