    According to Rossman (1983: 86), Nectria rubrostoma is unique among Nectria species in having pallid ascocarps each with a scarlet, pointed papilla. The long, multiseptate ascospores and occurrence on monocotyledonous wood distinguish N. rubrostoma.

    The species was described by Hino & Katumoto already in 1960 (p. 15), but two collections also on Pleioblastus linearis were cited then and no type indicated.
