Ian Glasspool, Ph.D. Paleobotany Collections Manager, Department of Geology, The Field Museum  Ian has only recently moved to the USA to take up his position at the Field Museum, having formerly been based in the UK. Ian was awarded a Ph.D. by the University of London before moving on to take up a series of post-doctoral research positions, including a Leverhulme Special Research Fellowship at Cardiff University in Wales. Ian specializes in coal-forming environments, studying their paleobotany, coal petrology and palynology. He also has a particular interest in ancient wildfires, and has recently published an article describing what is, to date, the earliest wildfire event yet recorded. |
