Mihai Popa, Ph.D.
Lecturer, Department of Geology and Paleontology, University of Bucharest, Romania
Mihai is a systematic paleobotanist. He has worked extensively in the USA, having been a Fulbright Research Fellow at Gainesville, Florida. Mihai obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Bucharest, where he is now a University Lecturer in the Department of Geology. In 2003, Mihai was awarded the National Science Award for young researchers.
Mihais main research interests are the systematics, taxonomy and paleoecology of Mesozoic (mainly Jurassic Early Cretaceous) and Upper Paleozoic (Late Carboniferous and Permian) land plants, and he is particularly focused on the in situ palynology of bryophytes, pteridophytes and gymnosperms.
