Steve Hesselbo, Ph.D.
Lecturer in Stratigraphy, Department of Earth Sciences, University of Oxford, UK.
Steve graduated from the University of Aberdeen and was awarded his Ph.D. by the University of Bristol. He is currently Lecturer in Stratigraphy at the University of Oxford, and Secretary of the Stratigraphy Commission of the Geological Society. Steve has recently been awarded the ICS Medal to honor his high quality research in stratigraphy. Steves main research interests are in the area of Earth History, more specifically the dynamics of major past perturbations in the Earths physical and biological systems. This research has recently focused on the mid-Mesozoic time interval, employing a range of laboratory and field techniques at the interface of stratigraphy, sedimentology, isotope geochemistry and paleobotany.
