I'm interested in finding some places I can go to collect fossils- how do I get started?
Fossil collecting opportunities vary from state to state, and it is very important to always get permission and follow laws. We highly recommend reading The Paleontological Society Code of Fossil Collecting before searching.

How do I interview a Geologist/Paleontologist?
Our scientists are very busy with research, field work, taking care of our vast fossil and geology collections and helping to develop museum exhibits, so unfortunately we are unable to answer questions on a person-by-person basis. However, the links below will take you to three interviews, one with Dr. John Flynn, MacArthur Curator of Fossil Mammals, one with Dr. Meenakshi Wadhwa, Associate Curator of Meteoritics, and another with Dr. Greg Buckley, a Geology Department Research Associate and Professor at Roosevelt University in Chicago. These interviews were based on over a hundred questions submitted by Chicagoland students. Many of these questions covered the same topics, so we've selected a broad sample of these to display below. If you have been asked to interview a paleontologist, most likely the material here will answer your questions.
