Scope of the Collection | Information for Researchers | Guidelines Guidelines Archival material is non-circulating and retrieved by archives staff for patron use only in the Library Reading Room, or other areas authorized by the Archivist, and under the supervision of library staff. Material delivered must be recorded on the "Archives Use Record," and you will be asked to sign it to accept responsibility for returning all the contents in the same condition they were delivered to you. Archives staff will retrieve materials for a researcher one item at a time, or in a quantity which the archives staff deems appropriate. Researchers shall maintain all materials in the order or sequence in which they are presented. If an item seems to be out of order, please notify the archivist or staff. Researchers will return charged-out materials before requesting additional materials. A researcher may request "reference" copies of an item. Requests for reference copies may be denied if copying will either damage or degrade the material, or if donor, acquisition or legal restrictions prohibit reproduction. The Field Museum Library and Institutional Archives do not charge a fee for use of the collection.
