1995 - Received an award from the Gdansk Scientific Society for scientific achievements.

1992/93 - Received an award from the Foundation of the University of Gdansk for scientific achievements.

Research Interests:

My research interests focus on two main areas of investigation:
1. Taxonomy and phylogeny of lichenized fungi and lichenicolous fungi
2. Coevolution of lichen symbiotic associations

Current Research:

My current research project includes circumscription of the ascomycete order Peltigerales based on molecular data, determination of its placement within the global phylogeny of Ascomycetes, and reconstruction of the evolution of bi- and tri-membered symbiotic associations within this group of lichens. These studies are conducted thanks to a Kosciuszko Foundation Grant for the 1999/2000 academic year that was awarded to me, and to a National Science Foundation, International Program, Eastern Europe division, Supplement to Dr. François Lutzoni's DEB-9615542 grant.
