June - December 2005 Jose Salvator Leister Patane Jose collected molecular data for his project entitled, “Molecular phylogeny of toucans of the genus Ramphastos (Piciformes: Ramphastidae).” The aims of the project are to infer the phylogenetic relationships among the species of the genus Ramphastos, and to test the fit of different paleobiogeographic events that may have influenced the diversification within this neotropical genus.
