Fall 2005 Yi Cui Yi is working under the guidance of Dr. Peter Avis and Sara Branco to collect her genetic data. The major purpose of her proposed research is to investigate the influences of intensive mushroom harvest on the ectomycorrhizal fungi (EMF) community. This will be achieved by comparing changes in overall EMF diversity as well as dominance by specific species under different disturbance regimes. By conducting EMF community survey, this study is also aimed to contribute to the knowledge of the mycorrhizal fungal diversity of the studied region, which has not been explored.
