The males in some families of scorpionflies have an upturned abdomen that makes them look like a scorpion. Perhaps you can see this in the picture to the left.

Some scorpionflies capture prey with their hind legs while flying upwards along plant stems. In some species, the male offers the female a prey item before mating. The female uses this meal to nurture developing eggs.
