For the last two decades, Mary Hennen, Collections Assistant in the Field Museum's Bird Division, has been monitoring Illinois populations of Peregrine Falcons. Mary has created new web pages associated with this work.
From these pages, you can learn about Peregrine Falcons, the progress in re-establishing breeding populations of these magnificent birds in Illinois, and get links to the team of people that make this work possible. Also, you can find links to the web cams on nest sites in Waukegan, Evanston, and Chicago and follow the breeding birds throughout their reproductive season. Who doesn't like cute baby birds?
Mary also works with University of illinois, Chicago graduate student, Isabel Caballero on the genetics and parentage of the Illinois birds. Isabel works on the genetics and populations biology of Peregrine Falcons at a worldwide scale.
