The Chicago Cultural Alliance (CCA) is a consortium of Chicago-area ethnic museums and cultural centers whose mission is to effect social change and public understanding of cultural diversity through first voice perspectives. The Alliance increases the visibility and impact of Chicago’s ethnic assets by leveraging partnerships between member organizations and major institutions.
The Alliance was born out of the partnerships developed through the Cultural Connections Program of The Field Museum’s Center for Cultural Understanding and Change. The partners recognized the significance of their relationships and the infrastructure developed by The Field Museum and in 2006 the Alliance was chartered and received 501c3 status in 2008.
ECCo works with the Alliance to help its member organizations draw upon heritage traditions to address social and environmental issues and to engage its members in regional efforts working toward sustainability. In addition, ECCo supports the growth of the Alliance with the commitment of staff who participate in the Alliance board and various working committees.
