Women's Board

Founded in 1966 to promote interest in the Museum and help support its activities, The Women’s Board is comprised of nearly 300 of Chicago’s most active and civic-minded citizens with a shared interest in promoting awareness of The Field Museum’s exhibitions, collections, research and public programs. Women’s Board members are dedicated volunteers who play a vital role in helping the Museum advance its mission by providing philanthropic and community support. They are engaged in the Museum's scientific programs and research, and attend programs and exhibitions that offer lifelong learning opportunities.

The Women’s Board raises more than $1,500,000 annually on behalf of The Field Museum through personal gifts and by hosting the annual black tie Gala. Other important projects include Field Dreams, which provides direct support for the Museum’s scientists, and the Women In Science Luncheon, which underwrites the Women in Science Fellowship and internships.

The Women’s Board holds quarterly business meetings followed by a curatorial tour or presentation. Membership is by invitation.
