The Women’s Board Fellowship Luncheon is an annual event designed to raise awareness of The Field Museum and all that it has to offer and to raise funds to benefit the Women In Science Fellowship. Women’s Board members and their guests attend a lecture in the Museum’s James Simpson Theatre, followed by a luncheon in Stanley Field Hall. Guests meet members of the Field’s research staff and are encouraged to explore the Museum throughout the afternoon. More than 500 guests are expected at the event.
Women in Science
Proceeds from the luncheon will fund the advancement of Women in Science at The Field Museum. The Women’s Board is committed to supporting young women who have chosen, or wish to pursue, a career in science. In 2014 we will award the Women in Science Fellowship to an accomplished female Ph.D. candidate, and six Women in Science Internships to three female undergraduate students and three female high school students. The impact of these awards enable the timely completion of a doctoral dissertation, provide experience preparing, cataloging, and curating scientific specimens and allow for independent research under the mentorship of Field Museum scientists. We invite you to join us in supporting these promising young women.
