The postorbital bar does not form a bony plate between the orbit and the temporal fossa (in other words, if you look at the skull from the front, you can see the back of the skull through the eye socket). The postorbital plate separates the orbit from the temporal fossa (in other words, if you look at the skull from the front, you cannot see the back of the skull through the eye socket).
