North Pare Mountains

The North Pares are in Kilimanjaro Region, Mwanga District.  The highest point of the mountain system is 2113 m.  While there are a number of forest reserves in the North Pares, the two most significant are Kindoroko and Minja Forest Reserves.  While the area around these reserves is heavily impacted, these reserves enjoy the status of being a cultural forest reserve and so may be under less threat than forests of other Tanzanian mountains.
