For a preview of the exhibition themes and artifacts, check out the exhibition sections described below.

Egypt before Tutankhamun
Tutankhamun was one of the last in an illustrious line of kings of the 18th Dynasty. Together they made Egypt into the greatest empire the world had ever known. Learn about the powerful pharaohs who preceded King Tutankhamun and the unstable legacy he inherited when he took the throne.

Don’t miss:
Face of a Composite Statue of Nefertiti
One of Egypt’s most famous queens, Nefertiti and her ethereal beauty are powerfully captured in this stunning sculpture.

Daily Life in Ancient Egypt
Discover what daily life was like in Tutankhamun’s day. Take a look at some everyday items and personal objects such as cosmetics containers, perfume bottles, drinking bowls—even a dog collar!

Traditional Beliefs
Egyptians of the 18th Dynasty worshipped many gods, which could take both human and animal form. Examine members of the Egyptian pantheon whose gilded statues guarded temples and Tutankhamun’s tomb.

Don’t miss:
Statue of Duamutef
This golden god, found in Tutankhamun’s tomb, is one of the four sons of Horus responsible for protecting the mummified body.

Religious Revolution
King Tutankhamun’s father was likely the heretic pharaoh Akhenaten, who introduced the worship of the one god Aten. His radical ideas inspired great artistic change, but also created strife among his people. Restoring Egypt’s orthodox belief system would fall to Tutankhamun.
