Death, Burial, and the Afterlife

Ornately carved and decorated, this jar still holds traces of its original cosmetics used by King Tutankhamun.

The Tomb
Tutankhamun’s tomb and mummy were outfitted with all he would need for his journeys in the netherworld. View the stunning array of artifacts that would feed, transport, serve, entertain, and protect him during his life after death.

Ceremonial Dagger and Sheath
Found in the wrappings of Tutankhamun’s mummy, this dagger would have protected the king during his journey to the “Fields of the Blessed.”
The Mummy
Take a look at the amazing CT scans of Tutankhamun’s body, a project sponsored by National Geographic. These images shed light on the theories of Tutankhamun’s death and create a realistic picture of what he may have looked like in life.
