Statuary and Sculptures
Just as we place statues of our leaders in public places, the ancient Egyptians also erected likeness of their kings and gods in temples, shrines, and tombs. Some were considered the embodiment of the gods and probably played a part in religious rituals. Often inscribed with hieroglyphics, they help shed light on religious and political issues of the time.
