Beyond King Tut

While Tutankhamun is perhaps Egypt’s most famous pharaoh, there’s a lot more to learn about the long history and fascinating culture of ancient Egypt. Before or after you visit Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs, be sure to visit the Field Museum’s permanent exhibition Inside Ancient Egypt. Entry to Inside Ancient Egypt is included with the purchase of a Tut exhibition ticket.

In the Inside Ancient Egypt galleries, you’ll view beautiful art and artifacts from the great ages of the Old and Middle Kingdoms (centuries before Tutankhamun) to the Ptolemaic-Roman era of Cleopatra. You can gaze upon the unwrapped faces of mummies from the Museum’s extensive collection; step into the shrine of Bastet, the beloved cat goddess; and even tour the tomb of Unis-Ankh, a pharaoh’s son.

To learn more about this permanent exhibition, visit our Inside Ancient Egypt website. Or, check out our websites from past temporary exhibitions that have appeared at The Field Museum. You can explore the traditions and triumphs of Egyptian art at Eternal Egypt: Masterworks of Ancient Art from the British Museum. Or, you can learn more about Egypt’s last ruler and celebrated beauty Cleopatra of Egypt: From History to Myth.
