Plan a Field Trip to Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs
Take your students back in time to discover the secrets of the ancient Egyptians. Plan a field trip to Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs, try out classroom and field trip activities from the Educator Guide, and check out accompanying Harris Educational Loan materials!
Field Trips
Pre-registration is required for students to visit this special exhibition. Free school group tickets for Tut are sold out. A limited number of Tut school group tickets ($14 per person) may still be available for September and October dates only. Please call 312.665.7500.
Note: Requests are filled on a first-come, first-served basis and space is very limited. We suggest you register as soon as possible for field trips in the fall of 2006. Free school group tickets are available for Chicago schools taking field trips on or after September 5, 2006, but quantities are limited. If free tickets are unavailable, your school is outside of Chicago, or your school wants to visit the exhibition between May 26th September 4th, 2006, a per person ticket fee will be assessed. Student Classes
Egypt Unwrapped (Grades 3-8) Prepare a mummy for its journey to the afterlife. You’ll explore the traditions and beliefs of ancient Egyptians as you recreate sacred objects and treasures of this ancient civilization.
Note: Class is available in your classroom or at the Museum.
Monday-Friday, 10am-1pm
$3 per Chicago student, $4 per student outside of Chicago
Special rates available for Egypt Unwrapped in your classroom
Legends of the Boy King (Grades 3-8) Explore the legends surrounding the boy named King Tut and discern the truth among the fiction. Use this class to prepare students to see the exhibition or to further explore its themes.
Note: Class is available only in your classroom, not at the Museum.
Available May 22- December 15, 2006
One hour class: $2 per Chicago student, $2.50 per student outside of Chicago
Two hour class: $3.50 per Chicago student, $4.50 per student outside of Chicago
Field of Wonder: Egypt
Discover the fascinating culture of ancient Egypt as this class explores mummies, pyramids, and more. Get a closer look at hands-on objects, listen to a story, and even create your own work of Egyptian-inspired art.
Available Monday-Friday, beginning September 1, 2006, 10:15 and 11:15 am

Harris Educational Loan Materials
Teachers and families can use these hands-on materials to explore themes such as: Ancient Egypt: Games and Recreation; Ancient Egypt: Life Along the Nile; Ancient Egypt: Planning for the Afterlife; and Egyptian Hieroglyphs; audio/visual materials such as Egyptian Myths and Magic and resource books are also available. Just for Educators: Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs
Investigate this brilliant collection of major artifacts excavated from King Tut’s tomb, including his royal crown and gold-and-inlaid canopic coffinettes. Egyptian Exploration for Educators
Get a glimpse of ancient Egyptian life through the eyes of three world-class institutions in five days! Spend three days discovering the world of ancient civilizations at The Field Museum by exploring Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs, Inside Ancient Egypt, and Africa. Travel back in time with the Oriental Institute Museum during a one-day workshop on the history, art, and archaeology of ancient Egypt. Then journey into the natural world at The Chicago Botanic Garden for another day where you'll learn about the plants that played an important role in the lives of ancient Egyptians. Adaptable for grades K 12. Earn 25 CPDUs, 2 Aurora Graduate Credits, or 1 CPS Lane Credit.

Life Along the Nile
Explore the extraordinary biodiversity along the fertile banks of the Nile. View the wonders and mysteries of this ancient land, and find out how ancient Egyptians created an empire in the desert. You’ll focus on the impact of humans and ecology on ancient Egyptian life, and learn about modern conservation efforts. Adaptable for grades K-12. Earn 5 CPDUs.
