As a valued member, you are cordially invited to a members only event on Sunday, October 14th.

Join us for a continental breakfast from 8:30am-9:30am in the East Atrium and Siragusa Center, followed by a lecture in James Simpson Theater with Anna Jackson, Keeper of the Asian Department at the Victoria and Albert Museum and lead curator of Maharaja: The Splendor of India’s Royal Courts.

Ms. Jackson is excited to share her knowledge and expertise on this dazzling new exhibition! The word maharaja, literally ‘great king’, conjures up a vision of splendor and magnificence. The major exhibition Maharaja: The Splendor of India’s Royal Courts  is the first to examine the spectacular culture of India’s kings within the context of the political and social changes of the eighteenth, nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.  Through a wide variety of Indian and European objects, ranging from fabulous jewelry and brilliant paintings to silver howdahs and gold thrones, this lecture will explore the remarkable world of the maharajas, providing an understanding of their changing status and identity, Indian court culture and royal patronage.  It will also give insight into the making of the exhibition.

After the lecture, enjoy a complimentary viewing of Maharaja: The Splendor of India’s Royal Courts. See the exhibition before anyone else at this exclusive event!
